Research on Crimping Technology of UHV GIL Three-pillar Insulator

The key crimping process parameters of UHV GIL three-pillar insulators were studied.The optimal process parameters was determined and a dedicated crimping process device was designed and manufactured.The physical crimping process was verified and the strength of the crimped structure was tested.The results showed that the static compressive strength was up to above 46 kN,which was far larger than the design requirements 19.5 kN.UHV GIL type test prototype using this technology successfully passed the full range of type tests.
