Construction and Application of Learning Analytics Model Based on Learning Management System

There is a tremendous increasing interest in databased learning analytics in academic research and educational practice, but it is hard to establish a unified model for all learning situations.Thus, it is necessary to study the learning analysis model of a particular situation. This study attempts to build a learning analytics model based on Learning Management System, which includes four core elements: object, data source, analytical method and analytic content. Meanwhile, based on the concept of modularization and extensibility, the procedure of data processing of learning analytics based on Learning Management System is constructed. The main steps of the procedure are discussed in detail: data collection, data analysis, result presentation and feedback. Based on the practical application, the proposed learning analysis model is extended. An analytical method based on the relational model of learning behavior between teachers and students is added. In learning analytics model, a measurement scale is added to collect subjective report data of teachers and students, so as to expand data sources and conduct more comprehensive learning analysis.
