A Preliminary Study on the Characterization and Consolidation Effects of the Sandstone Consolidating Material ZB-WB-S

This paper aims to analyze the sandstone consolidating material ZB-WB-S which was developed specifically for the consolidation of the weathered sandstone statue of Avalokitesvara among the Dazu rock carvings in Chongqing,and the un-weathered sandstone test coupons collected from the Dazu rock carvings area.A variety of materials characterization methods are selected to analyze the solid content,viscosity,surface tension,molecular weight,and glass transition temperature of the consolidating materials.In addition,the phase composition of the sandstone is investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and X-ray diffraction(XRD).The effects of ZB-WB-S on the test blocks are preliminarily studied through analyzing infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),scanning electron microscopy(SEM) images,and X-ray diffraction(XRD) data,as well as changes in the spectra.
