A Study on the Time of Establishment of the Statue of Xuanzang in the Xingjiao Temple in Chang'an—An Iconographical Study on Xuanzang(Ⅱ)

Regarding the date of the Xuanzang statue in the Xuanzang tower tomb in the Xingjiao Temple in Chang'an, some experts believe that it was built in the Qing dynasty. In recent years, the author had the opportunity to visit the Xingjiao Temple for a preliminary investigation of the bottom cells of Xuanzang's tower tomb. Based on an inscription that is directly associated with repair of the statue, the author thinks the opinion that this likeness of Xuanzang was "installed in the Qing dynasty" is worth discussing. The author further presents a preliminary view for the consideration of experts and scholars.
