The cliff sculptures of Sheshenyan, located at the Dayue village of Linfeng township in Anyue,Sichuan province, were first constructed in the middle of the eighth century. There are now fifteen niches remaining on the cliff, mainly consisting of images of Sakyamuni Buddha, Maitreya's preaching scenes, and combinations of both Buddhist and Taoist images. According to the cave form, image themes, and style, these sculptures were mainly influenced by those in places from northern Sichuan such as Bazhong and Guangyuan.
