Compensation differential among enterprises with different ownerships has aroused labor economists’ wide attention. To analyze the issue is of great value not only in estimating the influences of non- market forces when determining the wage structure, but also in judging how well the labor market works in a transition economy. Several is- sues are reviewed in this paper including the decomposition method of compensation differential, overseas and domestic studies on compensa- tion differential between state-owned and non-state-owned enterpris- es.
