Hybrid Control of Discharging State During EDM

Traditional EDM adopts unaltered processing parameters which lead to low efficiency of manufacturing.The reason is that the parameters are set according to the machining state in final depth of workpiece considering the difficulty of releasing debris off the gap.A new EDM control system which directly regulates the electrode down time and jump amount has been developed in this study.The control strategy includes both adaptive control of down time and PID control of jump amount respectively based on the deleterious discharge ratio and efficient discharge frequency.The experiments indicated that the control system can improve EDM performances.
