Design and Control Research on the Traction Converter of the AC Drive Locomotive

Power Electronics Integrated Case(PEIC) design concept for the high power conversion is presented based on the compact volume characteristics of the high power traction converter of AC drive locomotives.During consideration of PEIC design,the structure configuration issues for the converter reliability and both mechanical and electrical interface issues for the functional parts assembling facilitatibility are investigated respectively,from view of mechanism intensity, creepage distance,low stray inductance bus bar,PEIC electromagnetic compatibility,thermal management and maintenance conveniently.The control strategies of the traction converter could both stir up the voltage resonance of its input power line and speed up the damage fault of its output motor by causing both terminal overvoltage and axle leakage current,if it is not very sophisticated.After analyzing the compact of control strategies of the converter on the AC locomotive drive system,this paper proposed several improvement skills for the control strategies and then verified experimentally.
