Mental interaction and discourse coherence: On heuristic function of textual interaction theory in reading comprehension teaching

Mental interaction between the reader and the writer is a major factor of forming coherence in the written discourse.In the light of this viewpoint,the article makes an introduction to Hoey's textual interaction theory as well as some remarks on it.The article includes the following main points: 1)the Question-Answer Pattern of reader's both lower and higher-level expectations;2) the functions of schemata and scripts in the process of textual interaction;3)SPRE patterns and lexical signals.And the article also discusses some heuristic function of the textual interaction theory in teaching of reading comprehension.
