Study of the Evolution of City Commercial Space Structure Based on the New Space-Time Dimension

ZHU Hong,YE Qiang College of Architecture,Hunan University,Changsha 410082,China
By analyzing the features of the new space-time dimension based on the development of rail rapid transit, its impact on the spatial distribution of population, the mode of travel and the consumption behavior, the paper discusses the evolution of city commercial space structure from three aspects including "the distribution of commercial centers, hierarchical structure of commercial space and the constitution of new commercial space".It argues that Chinese commercial space still remains at the "center-periphery" structure, while "an ordered and compact polycentric network structure along axial lines" should be the development trend. Finally, some proposals from the aspects of planning management, travel guidance and the design of commercial space are provided.
