Research on Antibacterial Activity of Bark Extractive of Juglans mandshurica Maxim

To study the antibacterial activity of extract of bark of Juglans mandshurica Maxim on Staphylococcus aureus,Escherichia coli,Salmonella typhimurium,Vibrio parahaemolyticu and Candida albicans,these experiments were conducted. After extracted by ethanol,bark of Juglans mandshurica Maxim was extracted by petroleum ether,chloroform,and ethyl acetate successively. Antibacterial activity of extracts was measured by agar diffusion method. The results showed that the ethanol extract had inhibitory effect on all five kinds of pathogenic bacteria. Petroleum ether extract only had strong inhibitory effect on Vibrio parahaemolyticu and Staphylococcus aureus. Chloroform extract could inhibit Vibrio parahaemolyticu,Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans. Ethyl acetate extract showed inhibitory activities on five kinds of pathogenic bacteria. This study provides supplementary data on the active component functions of bark of Juglans mandshurica Maxim.
