Comments on Progress in Geoinformation Science

Geo information Science, including Cartography, Remote Sensing application and GIS, have achieved great successes in China. As early as the 1950s, the Physical Atlas of China had been compiled. Since then, there are more than 10 national atlases have been published. In 1980s, the Institute of Remote Sensing and State Key Laboratory of Resources Environment Information System were established, that promote the research of Remote Sensing application, GIS in China. Now, Digital Earth research is developing. Professor Chen Shupeng, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has made significant contributions to these progresses of in China.
