The Development and Significance of Myanmar’s External Economic Relations since 1988

The external economic relations of Myanmar have been developing rapidly since 1988,and it has exerted an important impact on the domestic economy as well as political and diplomatic situation of Myanmar. The paper analyzes Myanmar’s external relations’effects and characteristics from the angle of the interplay of politics and economies. The paper stresses that the external relations of Myanmar are vital for the military government,but due to the western sanctions,it is less supportive to the domestic economy than it should be.
