Analysis on ASEAN's Implementation of UN's 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda on Poverty Reduction Goals

Zhang Chun;
comparing with United Nations' Millennium Development Goals,although poverty eradication is still an important goal,the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development has reduced its emphasis on poverty reduction due to the expansion of the agenda. The UN Millennium Development Plan has achieved good results in poverty reduction goals,but ASEAN countries still face severe poverty reduction challenges. With the decentralized pressure brought about by the expansion of the 2030 Agenda,the challenge of promoting poverty reduction in conjunction with the implementation of the 2030 Agenda is gradually increasing. ASEAN and its member states have launched a series of efforts to try to integrate poverty reduction with the 2030 Agenda. But so far,neither ASEAN nor its member states have developed a complete docking strategy to promote poverty reduction.In the face of the new requirements of the 2030 Agenda for poverty alleviation,based on the achievements of bilateral poverty reduction cooperation over the past decade,China-ASEAN poverty reduction cooperation can make a big difference and may even become a new lubrication and growth point to China-ASEAN overall relationship.
