POWER SYSTEM TRANSIENT STABILITY SIMULATION WITH SPACE-AND-TIMEVARYING STEP METHOD

This paper describes a new numerical simulation method. Differing from most traditional simulation method that all machines are integrated together at cach time, the new method automatically focus on the most perturbed area of the system by integrating those parts with smaller time steps (i. e. more frequently). As a result of such a method, the integration step is not only time-varying, but also space-varying, coming from the fact that the steps used for different machine and their variation are dif- ferent. Illustrative examples obtained on a 31--generator, 234-line, 128-bus system are presented in this paper.
