A NEW METHOD FOR MEASURING POWER FREQUENCY USING VOLTAGE INPUT

This paper persents a new method for measuring power frequency which is based on curre fitting technique and using busbar voltage as input. Mathmatical derivation of new method is described and the factors affecting measuring accuracy are disscussed. The new algorithm is tested using the simulated data by an IBM-PC computer software program. The results show that the crror of new method is less than 0.005HZ when frequency changes between ±5HZ range. To further test the stability of new method, field recorded data are proccessed by new method. It is seen that the new algorithm can track the change of power frequency after a proper filtering thchnique is applied.
