Excavation of the Eastern Jin Tomb in Yintang, Yushan, Ma'anshan, Anhui Province

Ma'anshan Museum;
Ma'anshan Museum conducted a rescue excavation on the Eastern Jin tomb located in Yintang, Yushan, Ma'anshan, Anhui province in 2009. The tomb is a single chambered brick burial attached with a passage. Despite of the severe damages it has suffered, the tomb unearthed more than 20 funerary objects bearing distinct features of their age. The pottery figurines excavated from the tomb serve as evidence that there was no strict boundary between men and women clothing during the Six-Dynasties period. The structure and form of the coffin platform and sacrificial altar found in the tomb are invaluable to the study of the evolution process of the 凸-shaped tombs in the Eastern Jin Dynasty along the lower reaches of the Yangtze River.
