Evaluation of lodging resistance and relation and path analysis of lodging resistance traits in wheat

wheat materials were identified for lodging resistance and 9 genotypes of special resistance type were screened,in which there were 4 materials having high yielding characteristic.Relation analysis results indicated that both plant height and height of gravity centre were very important for lodging resistance.But when the differences of plant height were little,mechanical strength of culm determined the lodging resistance.Additionally,the height of gravity centre took greater effects for the higher materials and the length of the first basic internode were more important for the lower materials.Path analysis results showed that the direct effect of mechanical strengh of culm was the greatest for lodging resistance.Basic internodes dry weight per length unit could be treated as a reliable index of evaluating the mechanical strengh of culm.
