The Re-cognition to the China-ASEAN Relationship under China's Development Strategy

WANG Yuzhu;ZHANG Yunling;National Institute of International Strategy,Chinese Academy of Social Sciences;
One of the negative after-effects of the South China Sea disputes between China and some ASEAN members is the accusation that China tries to separate ASEAN for the rising interests.Responding to this argument,this paper put the China-ASEAN relationship into the map of China development strategy.Aiming at realizing its"two century goals",China development strategy is more inward looking,and cherish the cooperation relationship with ASEAN countries.Thus,instead of separating ASEAN,China welcome ASEAN playing a more positive role in regional cooperation and tries to deepen interdependence with ASEAN countries.But for a prosperous future,both China and ASEAN countries should try their best to eliminate the trust deficit which has been preventing them from moving into a community of common destiny.
