Effects of Turbulence Inciting Orfices and Fin Pitch on Heat Transfer Charateristics of Ellipsoidal Tubes with Rectangular Fins

Heat transfer characteristics of ellipsoidal tubes with rectangular fins have been studied by the hot medium analogy method. Turbulence inciting orfices in the rectangular fins intensify flow turbulence and thereby invigorate heat transfer. Experimental tests shows that number and location of orfices as well as fin pitch have a sigificant inluence on heat transfer. Orfices in middle point position are inconsequential. The paper gives correlating sh-Re criteria for single bank tubes with assorted turbulence inciting orfices. Figs 11 and refs 8.
