Using wave field continuation method to remove caustic effects

In the process of complex reservoir exploration,because of overlying formation varying greatly,reflection wave generates caustic phenomenon.Thus superposed image method related to ray travel time(NMO/Stack,NMO/DMO/Stack and Kirchhoff prestack depth migration) is difficult for target layer to correctly superimpose image in practice.This paper aims at caustic problems,by using migration operator which can adopt horizontal variety,and surface wave field continuation is moved above target layer to remove effects of caustic on target layer image.Calculation results of Marmousi model show that continuation method is feasible.
