Buried Palaeokarst characteristics and favorable reservoir distribution of Ordovician carbonate rock in Yubei area

Various types of karstification effects have developed in the Ordovician carbonate reservoirs in Yubei area of the Tarim basin. Burial karstification play important roles in favorable reservoir formation. By means of core,thin section analysis,cathodoluminescence,scanning electron microscopy,well logging and reservoir geochemical data,burial karstification features of Ordovician carbonate rock in study area were analyzed and favorable reservoirs were forecast. The results showed that burial karstification is mainly developed in Penglaiba forma-tion and Yingshan foramtion of the eastern fault zone. Burial karstification shows many burial karstificaiton characteristics such as buried cement dissolved into the pore,dissolution developed along high-angle fracture and stylolite,bread shaped dissolution pore along the late cracks and oil or asphalt related to fracture. The diagenetic media in burial karstification massed various deep stratum fluid. Because of the late Paleozoic Hercynian campaign,the diagenetic medium fluid is transported along the deep fault in which leaded lower part of karstification is better developed than upper part. Bedding-parallel dissolution pores also developed in Penglaiba formation.The most favorable area of buried karst is the scope where fault develops,and low-angle fractures have a greater lateral impact on the buried karst. Beneficial buried karst region and the high quality reservoirs should be near the late fault which developed in the later of Hercynian.
