High-resolution prediction of space distribution characteristics of complicated underground cavities——Preliminary application of high-density electrical technique in an area of Yangquan,Shanxi

According to previous data,there are many old holes or lane ways under the target area,but it is difficult to make clear their scale,configuration,depth and so on.We have mainly used high density electrical technique combined with high precise GPS survey and shallow drill holes.Different electrode spacing has been determined by different cavern type.17 survey lines and 1 140 points in the complicated areas have been finished.In the end,120 electrical anomalies have been discovered.With geological properties of the area and special shape of anomalies,we have predicte the anomalies of possible cavities and comparatively compacted rocks.The first 19 drills have validated that 15 anomalies are old cavities which have obvious off-drill rod or leak slurry,4 anomalies are relatively compacted limestone.The practice demonstrates that high density electrical technique could precisely predict the space distribution characteristics of complicated underground cavities,and is worth to be applied further.
