AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF THE EXCITATION FACTOR FOR TE MODE OF VLF RADIOWAVES OVER EAST-WEST PATHS

In this paper, phase changes of signals from H station and C station of the Omega system are analysised, the signals being simultaneusly received at Xinxiang and Lingtong. The existence and the characteristics of TE modes are determined from the measured data for the four possible propagation paths.The excitation factor of TE1 mode is obtained by solving a set of leading equations with the regression method. However the value of the faptor deduced from experimental result seems to be larger than the theoretical one, when propagation of VLF radiowaves over east-west paths at night.
