PROBE THE INTERPRETATION THEORY OF STEADY-STATE RAYLEIGH WAVE METHOD IN ENGINEERING EXPLORATION

GUAN XIAO-PING HUANG JIA-ZHENG ZHOU HONG-QIU(Department of Applied Geophysics, China University of Gcosciences, Wuhan 430074)  
Practical recorded curves of steady-state Raylcigh waves in engineering exploration closely correspond to properties of the media. The conventional interpretation theory has been based on propagation of free-surface Rayleigh waves. In the case of extremely small source-receiver distances, however, the generation of leaking-mode surface waves (or multiple composite reflections) may more reasonably account for characteristic points on recorded curves. Correctness of interpretation theory would be favorable for more extensive applications of this method.
