Process of sandstone thermal cracking

Rock exhibits apparently a macro cracking character in high temperature environment. By means of experiment, the development of Fuxin fine sandstone minerals formation, micro configuration and the inner micro cracks were observed on a scale. During the experiment, it was observed that the micro cracks’ number of Fuxin fine sandstone acutely increases and reached the peak value from 150℃.The descendend trend happened to the number of eyeable cracks when temperature exceeded 210℃.Later, the number gradually stabilizes. The second peak value of fine sandstone cracks’ number appeared at 810℃. The thermal cracking threshold of fine sandstone was determined with the change of temperature.
