Practice of monitoring country rock failure status during excavation in a metal mine by acoustic emission

Based on the research achievements over the world in applications of acoustic emission in geotechnical engineering,and the case of monitoring the stability of blocked out and ditched laneway in-vein preparatory in the Xiaotieshan mine,we have determined the stability and the flexible range after opening in different kinds of rocks,the reasonable support method and the supporting time. From the relation among rock stress,the times of acoustic emission and energy, by measuring acoustic emission features in a certainty time and comparing corresponding failed status,we have established the relation between failure modes after laneway opening and acoustic emission.All of these can give some theoretical guidance to the rationality of in-vein preparatory work mode and geostatic control measures.Also,the practice proves that the acoustic emission is an effective approach to monitoring the failure status of country rock in underground space engineering.
