3D borehole radar imaging method based on BS-MUSIC

The directional borehole radar is composed of a transmitting antenna and four receiving antennas located on a circular ring in a borehole,which can determine the depth and orientation of geological targets.However,the corresponding azimuth determination and three-dimensional imaging algorithm remain challenges in this technique.In this paper,the spatial spectrum estimation based on the beam space MUSIC algorithm(BS-MUSIC algorithm)is applied to determining target azimuths for the directional borehole radar.An algorithm is proposed and implemented to convert the signals from four receiving antennas into three-dimensional spatial images.The effects of this algorithm are verified by using synthetic data and compared with the MUSIC algorithm results.The results show that the MUSIC algorithm and the BS-MUSIC algorithm can achieve very good results,while the calculation speed of BS-MUSIC algorithm has been significantly improved compared to the MUSIC algorithm.
