SUCCESSFUL EXPERIMENT AND ANALYSIS OF ARTIFICIALLY TRIGGERINO LIGHTNING IN BEIJING IN 1991

CHEN MING-LI; LIU XIN-NHONG; LIU GXIN-SHENGI; WANG HUAI-BIN (Lanzhou Institute of Plateau Atmospheric physics, Academia Sinica, Lanzhou 730000).(The Second Institute of Second Artillery, PLA, Beijing 100085).  
In this paper we present briefly the results of two successful triggered lightnings with rocket-wire technique in Beijing area in 1991. They were all triggered when electric fields at ground were positive(positive charge overhead),specifically 3.2kV/m and 2.5kV/m respectively.Analysis shows that triggered lightnings were Small discharges initialed by upward going negative Streamer followed by continuous current process.No return strokes were recorded.The triggering heights were within 300-400m.Charges they transfered were less than 10C and corona currents along wire during rockets rising were about 4mA.
