USING FULL-WAVE ACOUSTIC LOGGING SIGNALS TO DETECT THE FLUID-FILLED SLOT ON SECOND BOUNDARY

In this paper, a general algorithm has been developed for emitating the acoustic logging in a cased borehole and the acoustic field characteristic in borehole also studied by numerical method in several typical cement bounded cases.Numerical results show that the P-wave in received full-wave is not more reliable for evaluating the second cement boundary, and the additive Stoneley wave is too weak to be applied within the frequency range of acoustic logging.Ifthe first cement boundary is bounded perfectly, however,the pseudo Rayleigh wave's Airy phase and Stoneley wave's amplitude are much more sensitive to the bounded quality of the second cement boundary, and is to become the advanced indicators for detecting the slot on the second boundary.
