STUDY ON THE RESISTIVITY STRUCTURE OF THE LITHOSPHERE ALONG THE GOLMUD-EJIN QI GEOSCIENCE TRANSECT

The length of the Golmud-Ejln Qi Geoscience Profile is about 800 km, in NE-SWdirection.28 MT points were measured along the profile using the modified GEM1 instrument in 1993.The results of MT interpretation are as follows.1.There are 5 terrains along the profile.From south to north: Qaidum Terrain,Midsouth Qilian Terrain,North Qilian Terrain,South Part of North Mountain Terrain, North Part of North Mountain Terrain.Between terrains there are big faults.From south to north:North Zongwu Long mountain fault,Mid-Qilian fault,Artun fault,ShibanjinXiaohuang mountain fault.2.In the vertical section there are 5resitivity layers:earth cover,upper crust, low resistivity layer in crust,lower crust and upper mantle,low resistivity layer in mantle.Because of the faults,the layers are not continuous and their depths are not the same.3.The thickness of the low resistivity layer in crust is about 3-5 km.The resistivity is about 2-20 Ωm.The depths at different locations are not the same.They are about 5-30 km.4.The thickness of the lithosphere is about 145-155 km,the resistivity of the lower lithosphere is about 1000-5 000 Ωm.5.The upper surface of the low resistivity layer in mantle undulates with three fallings and three risings.Its resistivity is about 10-80Ωm.
