CRUST-MANTLE PETROLOGICAL STRUCTURE AND DEEP PROCESSES ALONG THE GOLMUD-EJIN QI GEOSCIENCE SECTION

Based on the petrological study and the geophysical results, this paper suggests the crust-mantle Petrological structure of three regions of Qilianshan, Qaidam and Beishan. The thickened lower crust and the mountain root consist of high-pressure granulite and eclogite facies rocks, respectively.Petrological mapping of the Golmud-Ejin Qi Geoscience Section has been carried out. The deep processes are discussed,including the formation and asymmetry of the mountain root, differentiation of the crust materials and the formation of the new Moho, the mechanism of the orogenic lithosphere thickening,the lithosphere delamination and basaltic magma underplating, and so on.The difference between the orogenic lithosphere thickening mechanisms of the northern and southern margins of the Qinhai-Xizang(Tibet)Plateau, and their petrological signature are also discussed.
