The Longwave Radiative Effect of Smog Layer and Its Influences on the Boundary layer Temperature Stratification

In this paper, the radiative effect of Lanzhou urban smog layer is calculated by using a simplified longwave radiative scheme.The results indicate that the aerosols in smog layer increasethe atmospheric counterradiation reached the ground and the cooling rate in this layer.The in-crement values are 15. 2% and 0.073℃/h, respectively for average polluted condition. Thecooling rate is small compared with solar absorption heating rate in smog layer. But its effecton daily boundary layer energy balance can not bc ignored. By comparing the average temperature profiles of Lanzhou with that of Gaolan,the control site, it can be seen that the smog layer longWave radiation increases the cooling at upper and middle levels of the lower layer.
