Numerical Simulations of Terrain Induced Mesoscale Circulation and Its Verification

A three-dimensional mesoscale diagnostic model with high resolution is developed to simulate effects of inhomogeneous underlying surface upon structures of planetary boundary layers Numerical experiments with real data in a coastal area show that the model can simulate terrain induced mesoscale circulation very well, and the simulated wind direction, speed and temperature at Dakeng are in good agreement with observations
