The Effect of Light Absorption on the Ice Crystal Scattering Phase Function

The treatment of the light absorption by ice crystals has been studied using the ray tracing method.Its effect on the ice crystal scattering phase function has been investigated for different wavelengths.It is found that the halo and peak positions,as well as the phase function angular distribution will vary with the wavelength. Comparison with other model results shows good agreement.The approximation method used in the absorption calculations has been discussed theoretically.
