On the Composition Options of Trains in Urban Rail Transit

Cheng Wen(Beijing Urban Engineering Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd., Beijing 100037)
The composition of trains is one of the most important elements to decide the scale of a rail transit project. Based on the traffic volume of the light-rail line 1 of Chongqing, this paper analyzes and compares three options of the composition of trains in the early, the near future and the future stages from several important operation indices, and demonstrates the final option of the composition. The discussion is hoped to provide a reference for other related projects.
