Ground Rheostatic Braking Simulation of Linear Metro System

Shan Lei Yang Zhongping Zheng Qionglin (Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing 100044)  
Based on the traction calculation of the motion of trains and the power consumed by the ground rheostatic braking as well as the simulation analysis of the braking system, the paper points out the frequent starting and braking of linear motor vehicles in urban rail transit. The ground rheostatic braking is then applied for the sake of simplifying the devices on the train, decreasing the weight of carriages, reducing power consumption of LIM and diminishing the air temperature in tunnels.
