On Reducing the Gap between the Train and the Platform Edge

The neccesity and feasibility of reducing the gap between the carriage and the platform edge is put forward by analysing the current gap and the clearancegauge of vehicles as well as the recognition of national standards. Utilizing the trains supplied by Bombardier Co. in Shenzhen metro,gauging analysis have been carried out by means of vehicle dynamic simulation. Results of the dynamic vehicle profiles are tentatively adopted to reduce the current gaps. The ideal platform gap can only satisfy the practical vehicle profile, and the safety gap for train motion should be filled with a flexible sawtoothed rubber filler to guarantee simultaneously the safety of operation and the safety of passengers boarding and alighting the train.
