An Analysis on Protective Tripping for High-speed DC Circuit Breakers in Transformer Substations and on Trains

This article introduces the theory of the increment protection for high-speed DC circuit breakers in transformer substations and the protection for high-speed DC circuit breaker on trains, conducting a theoretic analysis and comparison between these two kinds of protective tripping. As indicated by practice, the high current tripping on trains is related not only to its set value, but also the rate of current rise. These two protections are not the same, so we cannot perform set cooperation calculation. We should pay attention to reducing breakdowns on trains during debugging and under man-made wrong operation, at the same time, to providing more protection types of high-speed DC circuit breaker on trains.
