A NEW SPECIES OF THE GENUS DIETZIELLA FROM ANHUI PROVINCE, CHINA (TREMATODA: ECHINOSTOMATIDAE)

A new species of Dietziella was found in the intestine of Pseudobagrus fulvidraco (Richardson) from Anhui Province, China. The feature of the new species is described as follows.Dietziella huaiheensis sp. nov. (fig. 1)Description based on 5 specimens. Body fusiform, 1.41-1.73×0.41-0.47mm. Head collar with 29 collar spines in a single continuous row and 4 spines on each ventral side. Oral sucker subterminal, 0.076-0,100×0.08-0.10 mm. Prepharynx short, 0.01-0.05mm, muscular pharynx, elongate oval, 1086-0.100×0.037-0.053 mm, oesophagus 0.053-0.133 mm long. Digestive caeca terminate blind near the posterior end of the body. Acetabulum located in the anterior 1/3 of body and its anterior edge overlapping intestinal bifurcation, 0.224-0.297× 0.231-0.297 mm.Testes situated in anterior part of posterior 1/2 of body, anterior one transversely oval, 0.136-0.165×0.198-0.247mm, posterior one slightly trigonal, 0.180-0.247×0.197-0.231 mm. Cirrus pouch is longitudinal or diagonal oval, usually overlapping acetabulum dorsally, 0.102-0.182×0.082-0.149mm, containing seminal vesicle, ejaculatory duct and cirrus. Genital pore opening at anterio-lateral border of acetabulum.Ovary spherical, situated in anteriorly right of the anterior testis, 0.102-0.129×0.100-0.129mm. Vitcllaria extending along both sides from the slightly anterior level of posterior edge of acetabulum to hind end of body, and meeting behind the posterior testis.Uterine coils short, S-shaped, situated between ovary and acetabulum. Eggs few, oval, 0.092-0.129×0.066-0.076 mm.The new species is simillar to Dietziella jinxiense Wang, 1982, but differs from the latter in: 1) head collar with 29 spines; 2) testes are heteromorphic, anterior one transversely oval, posterior one slightly trigonal. The new species is distiguished from its congeners by its 29 head collar spines.Host: Pseudobagrus fulvidraco (Richardson).Location: Intestine.Locality: Nushan Lake (30°57'N, 118°12'E). Holotype 1, paratype 2 are deposited in the Department of Parasitology, Anhui Medical University, Hefei, China.
