STUDIES ON LATE JURASSIC SCORPION-FLIES FROM NORTHEAST CHINA (MECOPTERA: BITTACIDAE, ORTHOPHLEBIIDAE)

A new genus and four new species of scorpion-flies are described and illustrated.Megabittacus gen. nov. (including Megabittacus colosseus gen. et sp. nov., Megabittacus beipiaoensis gen. et sp. nov. ) and Sibirobittacus atalus sp. nov. belong to the extant family Bittacidae. Orthophlebia liaoningensis sp. nov. belongs to the extinct fami1y Orthophlebiidae. The entire body of these new fossils, including antennae, rostrum, legs and many details of the venation, are perfectly preserved. They were collected from the Late Jurassic Yixian formation of Beipiao City, Liaoning Province.
