FIVE NEW SPECIES OF LAND SNAILS FROM THE TIBET AUTONOMOUS REGION,CHINA (GASTROPODA:MESOGASTROPODA,STYLOMMATOPHORA)

In the present paper, five new species of land snails are described The materials were collected by the authors in Tibet Autonomous Region, China in 1980 1997 Type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 1 Chamalycaeus tangmaiensis sp nov (Figs 1 4) Holotype alt 2 63?mm, diam 4 25?mm; alt of aperture 1 63?mm, diam of aperture 1 38?mm; collected from Tongmai Town (30°01′N, 95°E), Bomi County, Tibet Autonomous Region, China 20 Jun.1980. Paratypes 9 specimens, alt 2 63 3 13?mm, diam 3 50 4 38?mm; alt of aperture 1 50 1 75?mm, diam of aperture 1 38 1 88?mm;collected with holotype, 20 Jun. 1980 Shell small, thick, subdepressed, semitransparent Whorls 312, moderately convex, spire low, conoid, and the protoconch and second without lustre, generally smooth Shells yellowish brown in colour, surface with very finely and somewhat regularly rib striae, suture deep, and with a 0 56?mm projection as worm formed at the suture of the body whorls Umbilicus wide, regularly widening, showing the earlier whorls inside Aperture circular, thick, with wave formed lops, and a neck Operculum circular, sink, inner surface has a papule formed projection The new species is related to Chamalycaeus diminutus (Heude, 1885), but differs from the latter in: the shells with 312 whorls (alt 2 63?mm, diam. 4 25?mm), smaller, with very finely and somewhat regulaly rib striae, and aperture with wave formed lops 2 Dioryx tangmaiensis sp nov (Figs 5 6) Holotype alt 5?mm, diam 4?mm; diam.of aperture 1 63?mm; long of breathing pipe 1 88?mm; collected from Tongmai Town (30°01′N, 95°E), Bomi County, Tibet Autonomous Region, China 20 Jun. 1980 Paratypes 12 specimens, which belong to 2 young snails alt 4 63 5 25?mm, diam 3 88 4 50?mm;diam.of aperture 1 50 1 88?mm; long of breathing pipe 1 63 1 88?mm; collected with holotype,20 Jun. 1980 Shell small, thick, semitransparent,lustrous, globose conoid Whorls 312, moderetely convex, with high spiral part, body whorl very convex Shells light yellow brown or light white yellow in colour, surface with very thin spiral lines and growth lines Apex blunt, suture deep Aperture circular, peristome simple, somewhat expanded and reflexed, with a hoop form behind aperture, and with a 1 87?mm wormform projection at the suture of body whorl Operculum circular, cutin, yellow brown, and the inner surface has a papule form projection, and with 4 concentric circles lines Umbilicus small, deep, crevice formed The new species is similar to Dioryx globulus (Moellendorff, 1885), but differs obviously from the latter by following characters: the shells with 312 whorls (alt 5?mm, diam. 4?mm), smaller, with a 1 87?mm wormform projection at the suture of body whorl Operculum with 4 concentric circles lines The surface of the latter reddish brown, with 2 50?mm projection as wormform Operculum with 6 concentric circles lines 3 Ena markamensis sp nov (Figs 7 9) Holotype alt 25 66?mm, diam 9 59?mm;alt of aperture 6 66?mm, diam. of aperture 4 26?mm; collected from Chubalung Town (29°07′N, 99°E), Markam County, Tibet Autonomous Region, China 2 Jul. 1980 Paratypes 23 specimens, which belong to 5 young snails alt 21 31?mm, diam 4 70 7 10?mm; alt of aperture 1 50 1 75?mm, diam. of aperture 1 38 1 88?mm;collected with holotype, 2 Jul. 1980 Shell middle sized, sinistral, thick, solid, pupa form Whorls 712, moderetely convex, with high sprial part, cylindric The body whorl descending in front, and the surface reddish brown, with very thin spiral lines and growth lines Apex acute, smooth, suture deep, with a thin greyish white band below the suture Aperture ovate subqudarate, the peristome somewhat expanded and reflexed, columellar margin dilated and reflected partly over the umbilicu
