Li Pinyou Gu Anzhong(Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai 200030)  
There is an instability phenomenon called rollover during the storage process of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). This phenomenon affects the safety and economy of theLNG tank, therefore it is necessary to correctly understand the mechanisms and parameterswhich control the event. Based on the hydrodynamic instability and thermal instability theory, this paper theoretically analyses the instability of LNG under storage condition. Physicalexplanations to this matter are also given in the view of the second law of thermodynamic.
