Numerical model for subcooled boiling flow of cryogenic liquid in vertical channels

Determination of location of Onset of Nucleate Boiling(ONB) and that of Onset of Significant Void(OSV) is of great importance in analyzing subcooled boiling flow,since downstream ONB and OSV new heat transfer mechanism come to play.The heating wall of a vertical channel was divided into three sequential regions,each including different heat transfer mechanism.A mechanism model for quantifying the heat flux partitions in each region was developed and the boundaries between them were identified.The new model was then incorporated in the two-fluid model and the numerical simulation was performed.The locations of ONB and OSV can be easily decided according to the numerical results.The numerical results are helpful to a better understanding of the physical mechanism of subcooled nucleate boiling.
