Characteristics of a pulse tube cooler operating around 300Hz

The recent research work on a high frequency pulse tube cooler was introuduced,which was driven by a standing-wave thermoacoustic engine with working frequency around 300 Hz.By changing the configuration of the engine and the coupling mechanism,the pulse tube cooler could be driven with different pressure ratios.Extensive experiments had been done to investigate the performance of the pulse tube cooler,which include the influence of the average pressure,inertance tube length,pressure ratios,and straightener.Numerical simulation based on linear thermoacoustic theory had also been done and the results of numerical simulation were compared with the experimental results.The lowest temperature of the pulse tube reaches 79.6 K with the average pressure of 3.96 MPa and the pressuve ratio of 1.21.
