INFLUENCE OF LIGHTNING INDUCED VOLTAGE ON LIGHTNING WITHSTAND LEVEL OF TRANSMISSION LINES

The influence of induced voltage of lightning stroke to the transmission line tower on the lightning withstand level of transmission line through the field-line coupling mechanism are analyzed. Both the results of analysis and simulation reveal that the effect of lightning induced voltage on the lightning withstand level cannot be negligible. After reviewing several classical methods to calculate the induced overvoltage, one of these methods is recommended for its simplicity and good accuracy, and is integrated with existing EMTP program.
