A New Optimization Method for Configuration of High Temperature Superconducting Magnet

The anisotropy characteristic of the high temperature superconducting(HTS)tape has an influence on its performance of engineering application.The paper proposes a new optimization method for configuration of high temperature superconducting magnet,taking critical current and mechanical stress into account,aiming at Single solenoid magnet.We calculate a series of magnet parameters that the total length of magnet contain 2000 meters with MATLAB from different ratio of average radius to height,and establish the finite element model of single solenoid magnet.The FEM software is used to calculate the distribution of magnetic field and mechanical stress and transfer inner radius portion magnet which takes the biggest mechanical stress to the middle of the ends of magnet and analyze and compare the different effect on stress and critical current between different parameters.The simulation indicates that the optimization method can both decrease the perpendicular field and parallel field,which leads to a higher critical current and a lower mechanical stress as a rsult.This optimization method is useful for optimization of high temperature superconducting magnet.
