WANG Wenqing1,HOU Benjun1,ZHI Hua2,GONG Jun3 (1.Anqing Geotechical and Surveying Institute,Anqing,Anhui 246000,China; 2.Yixing Planning Bureau,Wuxi,Jiangsu 214206, China; 3.Seimological Bureau of Zhejiang Province, Hangzhou 310013, China)
This paper proposed a method of edge detecting which is based on the statistic analysis. The threshold of each individual pixel depends on the statistical variability of gradient at each pixel. Such statistic based on the gradient vector is used to determine the eligibility of the pixel to be an edge pixel. The results obtained from this method are comparable to other well-known edge detectors. However, the values of the input parameters providing the appreciable results are found to be more stable than other edge detectors.
