Area Calculation of Caofeidian Long Island Based on HJ-1 Data

By choosing proper multi-temporal HJ-1 environment satellite data, and using remote sensing methods combining supervised classification, gradual elimination, the area of Caofeidian Long Island under the condition of tides was achieved based on the ENVI software. The results show that the land area is less than 3 square kilometers in the spring tidal condition. However, when the neap tides appear, the land area is 7.6 square kilometer at least, which increased by more than two-fold. The comparison with the ground mapping results show that using the HJ-1 satellite data can meet the developments and constructions requirements of Long island area calculations under the tidal conditions.
