Multi-spectral Thick Cloud Detection Method Based on Landsat 8 Image

On the basis of ACCA algorithm, we analyzed spectral characteristics of thick cloud and typical ground target at first. And then, combining with the Landsat8 satellite sensor band features we designed a multi-spectral thick cloud detection method. This method used the top of atmospheric albedo and the brightness value to get the thick cloud detection results. The results show better detection accuracy than the ACCA algorithm, especially for boundary clouds and scattered clouds. At the same time, the accuracy of thick cloud detection results for different time in different area are all above 90%, which means the method can detect the thick cloud pixels at different time in different area.
